A suite interior design commission for Townhouse Duomo by Seven Stars — a luxury hotel at Piazza del Duomo 21, Milan, occupying a historic palazzo with private balconies overlooking the Cathedral. The hotel's 14 rooms and suites were each individually designed by Italian architects working under the supervision of the Soprintendenza delle Belle Arti di Milano, with the constraint of preserving and enhancing a building of historic significance. Each suite was conceived as a unique work of art. Neve designed and painted the cloud mural for one of the suites, in collaboration with Luigi Ciccarelli of Mesommami. The work covers the walls of the room: deep black and white cumulus clouds rendered in hyperrealistic scale, filling the space with a sky that has weight and motion. Against the graphic black-and-white striped walls of the design scheme, the clouds push outward — atmosphere where architecture was, sky where there was wall. Outside the balcony doors: the actual Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the actual sky of Milan. The suite places the guest inside a painted sky, overlooking the heart of the city from above.
