Il Maestro del Carnevale is a mural commissioned by the Comune di Palma Campania and created by artist Neve in February 2022 in Palma Campania, Naples.

"Il Maestro del Carnevale" is a large-scale outdoor mural commissioned by the Comune di Palma Campania, painted in February 2022 on a building facade in the town centre of Palma Campania, in the province of Naples. The subject is the Maestro del Carnevale — the Master of Carnival — the ceremonial figure who presides over and directs the traditional carnival festivities of Palma Campania. The figure is rendered as a monumental portrait: a young man in three-quarter view, gaze cast upward and forward, an expression poised between authority and ceremony. His costume is elaborate and precise to the tradition: a black coat worked with gold and white diamond patterns, white ruffled cuffs, a red shirt beneath bearing a crowned emblem in gold. His face carries green vertical stripes — the ritual marking of the character, the carnival mask made flesh. In his raised right hand, a baton or staff: from it radiate arcing sparks of orange and gold light, curving around the figure in a halo of fire and electricity, the magician's gesture that opens the festival and holds the crowd. The background is pure black, as in Neve's studio and mural work generally — the figure illuminated from a single source above and to one side in the Caravaggesque tradition. Against the darkness, the sparks from the baton are the only light besides the figure itself: a lantern in the dark, a fire-keeper. The mural occupies the full face of a residential building in Palma Campania, backed by the hills of the Campanian hinterland. At the base, the Neve signature and social handle.
